No. MLS head gaskets require smooth, flat and true head and deck surfaces to seal. Most of the time with o-ring setups the wire and groove fall where our gasket’s combustion seal is located; therefore, the wire will hold the gasket and not allow proper compression while the receiver grooves allow combustion gases to escape.
A surface finish of 50 RA (roughness average) or finer, is recommended for a proper gasket seal. Anything rougher may conflict with the gasket design.
When using MLS head gaskets always refer to the manufacturer of the fastener to determine accurate torque values. Appropriate torque is critical when installing new gaskets of any kind.
ShopEngineParts.com Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gaskets go on dry because they are coated with a sealant. Each MLS head gasket is coated with a .001" thick Viton rubber that is bonded to the outer stainless steel layers. Adding an additional sealer can hinder the performance of an MLS head gasket.

As stated on all ShopEngineParts.com invoices returns must be authorized and issued an RGA number. To obtain an authorized RGA number please contact our Returns Department or fill out our RGA Form. Only catalog / stock items can be returned (custom gaskets are non-returnable). All returns will incur a 25% restock charge. Returns are not accepted after 30 days from invoice date. RGA stands for Return Goods Authorization. All authorized returns entering the building must include this number on the outside of the package in order for the shipping department to receive and properly process.
Most gaskets are manufactured as they are ordered due to the vast amount of custom gasket applications that are offered. Once an order is received it usually takes approximately 3 business days for that order to ship. Please keep in mind that orders placed outside of normal business hours will be processed the next business day.
Online orders will be shipped based on the customers choice at checkout. We (do not) ship to P.O. boxes. Please contact us if you are interested in an expedited shipping on your order.
Shipping delay can occur when the wrong address or zip code is submitted for the shipping address. If the shipping company can not deliver the package we will contact you via phone or email.
During the holiday season shipping delivery may vary.
If an item needs to be returned the shipping fees are the customer's responsibility. Amount of refund will be based on the purchase price of your product.
The agreed upon venue, in the event of any dispute whatsoever between the parties, whether instituted by either party, including, but not limited to, contract terms, payment terms, delivery, type, defects, sufficiency of product, shall be the Court of Common Pleas, Lake County, Ohio or the Painesville Municipal Court, Lake County, Ohio, depending on the amount in controversy. This agreement shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Ohio.

Open accounts are due payable Net 30 days from date of invoice. No statement will be sent. If account becomes 60 or more days past due, it is subject to being placed on credit hold. No orders will be shipped or new orders accepted until past due balance is paid. If an account becomes 90 or more days past due, it is subject to being placed for collections. All costs of collection are the responsibility of the customer, including attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses of litigation.
Authorization (RGA) must be obtained in advance on all returns. A packing slip or invoice must accompany the merchandise. No returns after 30 days from invoice date. All returns subject to a 25% restocking charge. All custom designed and custom manufactured gaskets are non-returnable.
